Steven B. Pearlman

Steven Pearlman, a native to Illinois, has been practicing real estate tax law for more than 30 years. After becoming a member of the Illinois bar in 1980, Pearlman began working in the real estate tax unit for the State Attorney’s office. In his capacity as an Assistant State’s Attorney, his responsibilities included representing the Cook County Assessor, Collector, Cook County Board and County Clerk, specifically he represented the County in defending specific objection lawsuits, tax injunctive matters, and appeals.

Chris Sarris

Chris D. Sarris joined Steven B. Pearlman & Associates in 2012. He was previously the head associate attorney at another reputable Chicago property tax law firm where he gained extensive real estate tax experience representing hundreds of commercial, industrial, and residential clients in Cook and its surrounding counties. Chris is an expert at navigating the appeal process and advocates very successfully at the local township assessors, the Cook County Assessor’s Office, numerous Boards of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court. Chris has successfully reduced his clients’ assessments through strategic negotiations or by prevailing at hearings before Board of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court.

Annie Reed

Annie Reed began her career at Steven B. Pearlman & Associates as a summer law clerk after her first year of studies at the University of Illinois College of Law. Upon graduation and admission to the Illinois bar in 2012, she joined the firm full-time.

Annie’s expertise includes the preparation and filing of industrial and commercial property tax incentive applications. Annie has learned to navigate the incentive process working closely with municipal officials, the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, the Cook County Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the Assessor’s Office.

Tom Dorsey

Thomas Dorsey

Tom has over 20 years of experience working with law firms in the real estate tax assessment practice. In his capacity as a paralegal and real estate tax analyst, he has assisted attorneys in all aspects of the appeal process, including administrative appeals and tax assessment litigation.

Tom specializes in providing clients with sophisticated real estate tax projections and analysis for development and planning purposes across a wide spectrum of property types.

Alicia Haro

Alicia D. Haro

Alicia D. Haro joined Steven B. Pearlman & Associates in 2018. She specializes in Collar County residential, commercial and industrial property appeals, where she works closely with local township assessors to effectively reduce client’s assessments. In addition to her non-Cook County work, she handles a high volume of Cook County Specific Objection case settlements.

Alicia earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Lewis University in 2012 and received her JD from the John Marshall Law School in 2016. Alicia is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar association where she serves as vice-chair of the Young Lawyers Section Professional Responsibility Committee.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Alicia worked as a paralegal at other Chicago property tax law firms where she gained knowledge in the field of ad valorem taxation. As a paralegal, she assisted attorneys in all aspects of the appeal process.
