Steven B. PearlmanSteven B. Pearlman

Steven Pearlman, a native to Illinois, has been practicing real estate tax law for more than 30 years. After becoming a member of the Illinois bar in 1980, Pearlman began working in the real estate tax unit for the State Attorney’s office. In his capacity as an Assistant State’s Attorney, his responsibilities included representing the Cook County Assessor, Collector, Cook County Board and County Clerk, specifically he represented the County in defending specific objection lawsuits, tax injunctive matters, and appeals.

Nora DevineNora Devine

Nora Devine has been working with Steve Pearlman since 2003. Prior to joining Steve’s private law practice, she had accrued four years of real estate experience at a real estate transactional firm and with a real estate developer. Nora also clerked for the real estate tax division of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office while she was pursuing her law degree.

Nora currently heads up the firm’s Collar County practice (Lake, DuPage, Will, Kane, McHenry and Kendall counties).

Chris Sarris

Chris D. Sarris joined Steven B. Pearlman & Associates in 2012. He was previously the head associate attorney at another reputable Chicago property tax law firm where he gained extensive real estate tax experience representing hundreds of commercial, industrial, and residential clients in Cook and its surrounding counties. Chris is an expert at navigating the appeal process and advocates very successfully at the local township assessors, the Cook County Assessor’s Office, numerous Boards of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court. Chris has successfully reduced his clients’ assessments through strategic negotiations or by prevailing at hearings before Board of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court.

Annie ReedAnnie Reed

Annie Reed began her career at Steven B. Pearlman & Associates as a summer law clerk after her first year of studies at the University of Illinois College of Law. Upon graduation and admission to the Illinois bar in 2012, she joined the firm full-time.

Annie’s expertise includes the preparation and filing of industrial and commercial property tax incentive applications. Annie has learned to navigate the incentive process working closely with municipal officials, the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, the Cook County Economic Development Advisory Committee, and the Assessor’s Office.

Geno NowakGeno Nowak

Geno Nowak joined the firm as a Senior Tax Analyst in September 2009 after 32 years of public service with the Cook County Assessor’s Office. Mr. Nowak’s most recent position at the Assessor’s Office was the Director of Field Operations and Technical Review where he supervised 96 employees.

As the Director of Field Operations his responsibilities included overseeing the collection and processing of all data required for assessing the vast Industrial, Commercial and Residential properties in Cook County as well as processing and monitoring in excess of 100,000 building permits and 20,000 property tax appeals per year.
